Chicago – June 16, 2015

You should carry an umbrella – a big one! The monsoon season has arrived and it’s hot, humid, and wet. We just came back after two weeks of testing in Manila.

CagoMama now available for the Philippines

Our location sharing app CagoMama now supports Philippines. We tested extensively around Quezon City, Metro Manila. We carried from here a bunch of smartphones – both Android based phones and iPhones – and also used local Android phones and iPhones in our testing.

Location sharing works both within the country as well as across countries.

That’s right! One common use case is a US based business traveler (carrying a Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, or Sprint smartphone) visiting Philippines and wanting to share his location back home with his family in US. Or they may want to share location with a local “Pinoy” buddy in Philippines who is on Globe Telecom, Smart Communcations or any other local network. Both test scenarios passed successfully ! Tests were done while driving along Commonwealth Avenue in Quezon City, near Quiapo Church in Manila, and along Buendia Avenue in Makati City. Many more test cases were executed while driving around Metro Manila, which can be quite adventurous and taxing due to heavy traffic! We even tested at Beijing International Airport while waiting (6 hours) for a connecting flight.

Location sharing … just between you and them.

CagoMama shares your current location with a “trusted” contact that you configure inside the app – often it’s a friend or a family member. The Android version has a unique capability for your location to be queried by a contact in your trusted list – by giving you a “missed call”. This capability is not available in the iPhone version.

In both Android and iPhone, you can choose one or more “trusted” contacts and yourself send your location to them. You have the option to add a brief message. CagoMama sends your location to the trusted contact in an SMS.

We do not store your personal information, including location. You can rest assured that your private information is not being sold to third-parties.

Our focus is on ease of use, location accuracy, and conserving battery power. The phone’s location is not tracked on a continual basis. It’s only obtained as you need it, when you need it, on-demand.

To keep the app kid friendly, we have kept CagoMama free of advertisements.

CagoMama is brought to you by Cago – a mobile, web, and software systems development company based in the northwest suburbs of Chicago.
